Masonic Institute for the Developing Brain codirector receives prestigious “genius” grant

In 2020, Damien Fair, Ph.D., was one of two faculty at the University of Minnesota—and one of only 21 recipients nationwide—to earn the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Dubbed the “genius grant,” the MacArthur Fellowship is awarded to individuals who illustrate originality and creative pursuits in their field of study. Fair was nominated for his groundbreaking work in studying the developing brain, in which he has shown that mechanisms in the brain that trigger behavioral disorders such as ADHD and autism are not the same, but rather specific to the individual.
